Thai Experince for Aussie Women


Thailand has sent a selection of its female Futsal elite to Queensland for a series of first class events.


On the back of a two week intensive training camp, the Thais will take on an Australian team in a two game series this weekend.


Thailand's group consists of 28 tourists, 14 of which pounding the courts against sides from Queensland, Victoria & New South Wales last weekend.


Early signs are very promising for the visitors. After narrow victories in all of their qualification games, Thailand really turned on their class, comfortably taking out the tournament with a 6-1 win over Queensland in the final.


The Australian state sides will be merging as one this weekend to hit it out against the visitors over two days. The Aussies will be using the two game series as part of the final selection process, before they announce their team for the inaugural Vikings Women's Asian Championships to be held in China, in November later this year.


At the conclusion of the international battles, a civil war will be fought out, as the Aussie squad separates into two teams. In a Possibles V Probables format, the two sides will dual it out, under the microscope of the selectors one final time before the final list is announced. Those selected in the final team to tour China will line up along side tough opposition, facing off against sides from the Philippines, Hong Kong, New Zealand & Macau.


Australia's Asian Cup members will have the inside running for positions in the team to wear the green & gold again in the 2010 Futsal World Cup, to be held in August of 2010.


The Sides will be doing battle at Acacia Ridge's Futsal Centre locate behind the Aquatic Centre, 1391 Beaudesert Rd, Acacia Ridge. The first game will be on Friday evening at 6.30pm, & 8.30 on Sunday.
