TVOne’s 6 o’clock news featured a story about Futsal in New Zealand which is a huge shot in the arm for the sport.
After years of very little recognition this story come on the back of a story about the National Provincial Championships that aired on TV3’s Push Play program.
The story talked about Futsal in New Zealand and focused on the New Zealand Mens Futsal team preparing for the World Cup in Colombia in March 2011. The World Cup is run by the World Futsal Association (AMF) which is the governing body for World Futsal and established the sport in 1930.
There are many small Futsal operations in New Zealand but only one purist Futsal Organisation dedicated to all levels of the game year round – New Zealand Futsal Association Incorporated.
